Anti-lock braking

The primary function of the ABS braking system is to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance possible, whilst allowing the driver maximum vehicle control under heavy braking situations.

1st July 2004 saw legislation introduced requiring all cars and light commercial vehicles be fitted with ABS that can control the pressure to the brakes as often as 15 times per second giving the driver the ability to keep control of the vehicle in an emergency.

Many drivers are unaware of the presence of  ABS on their vehicle until the warning light illuminates on  the dashboard indicating a problem in the system. This not only means that the car is unsafe to drive, but also is an instant MOT failure as the ABS braking will not work when the warning light is on.

Our latest sophisticated computer diagnostic machines will be able to interrogate the ABS system, check the signals from each wheel and identify any errors causing illumination of the ABS light.
